NCB FILES CASE AGAINST RHEA, OTHERS

- DC CORRESPONDENT

In yet another twist to the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide probe, now the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has registered a fresh case in connection with allegations of drugs consumption and peddling at his Bandra residence where he was found hanging on June 14. The case has been filed against Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and some others based on the technical evidence and some text messages that were exchanged between her and alleged suppliers.

The NCB is now the third federal investigative agency probing this case apart from the ED and the CBI. The case has been filed based on some text messages mentioning Chakraborty and Rajput smoking marijuana and some other drugs. A team from Delhi NCB along with their counterparts in Mumbai will probe the narcotics angle. The statements of the actor’s staffers have also hinted of Chakraborty allegedly possessing banned narcotic substances beyond the quantity of personal consumption, hinting towards alleged peddling.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) grilled Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani for the sixth time on Wednesday. The questioning comes in light of disclosure of discrepancies in the statement of Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Deepesh Sawant. Another team of the CBI also visited the Cooper Hospital and questioned the doctors, who conducted an autopsy on the deceased actor’s body. The officials would revisit the videography and documentary details of the autopsy.

“The teams of CBI are working in close coordination with the ED and NCB in connection with the new developments in the probe,” said an officer privy to the probe.
