Covid claims 1,059 lives in 24 hrs

The number of recoveries of Covid-19 patients in the country exceeded active cases by 3.5 times on Wednesday.

India’s Covid-19 tally, meanwhile, rose to 32.34 lakh with 67,151 more people testing positive in the last 24 hours, while the toll climbed to 59,449 with 1,059 new fatalities being reported during the period.

According to the Union health ministry, the single-day recovery figure has been more than 60,000 for many days and the recovery of 63,173 patients in the last 24 hours has resulted in the cumulative recoveries of 24,67,758 people.

“This has contribute­d to the rapidly widening chasm between the number of percentage recovered and percentage active cases further. As many as 17,60,489 people have recovered more than the
