● THE STATES which approached the court through their respective ministers are Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
● THE PETITION sought reconsideration of the SC’s August 17 order order permitting the conduct of these exams. The review petition has been moved by senior lawyer and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
The petition sought reconsideration of the August 17 order saying that if it wasn’t reviewed, grave and irreparable harm and injury will befall the students appearing for the NEET/JEE and would severely jeopardise public health.
The other grounds raised are the safety, security and right to life of all the candidates appearing for the NEET/JEE exams.
It adds that the August 17 order ignores the logistical difficulties in holding the JEE from September 1 and NEET on September 13.
Meanwhile, the IIT-Delhi has appealed to its students and alumni to help those appearing for the JEE-Advanced next month with transport to reach their exam centres.
The institute has also suggested to its students and alumni to come up with a registration portal for needy candidates and help take care of their logistics.
