Sushant case: CBI grills Rhea for 2nd day in a row
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) grilled Rhea Chakraborty for the second day in a row on Saturday in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide.
Chakraborty is the prime accused in the case of abetment to suicide and cheating filed by Rajput’s father. She was escorted to the DRDO guest house by a team of Mumbai police. The CBI also questioned others in connection with the suicide on Saturday.
The officials had grilled Chakraborty on Friday for more than 10 hours in connection with her monetary details and bank transactions. The CBI also questioned Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh, domestic help Keshav, manager Samual Miranda and accountant Rajat Mewati on Saturday.
Separate teams are questioning the suspects to weed out discrepancies in the sequence of incidents. Rajput’s father has accused Chakraborty of allegedly swindling at least `15 crore from the actor’s bank account. The ED is hence studying the monetary transactions of the actor and Chakraborty.
“The family will also be questioned at a later stage on the same lines. Chakraborty may also be questioned again if needed,” said an officer privy to the probe.
On Friday, Rhea had sought police protection for her family citing hounding by the media and others. A police escort vehicle was provided to her, who dropped her to the CBI office at DRDO guest house in Santacruz.
Apart from the ED and CBI, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is also investigating the narcotics angle in the case.
