INDIA RECORDS SINGLE DAY SPIKE OF 76,140 NEW CASES
India once again recorded a single-day spike of
76,140 cases of Coronavirus taking the country’s overall infections till now to 35,35,435 out of which 27.12 lakh people have recovered. Such high numbers come at a time when the government is planning to restart metro train services, call the Monsoon Session of Parliament, hold medical and engineering entrances and university exams.
It is learnt that the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha may either function on alternate days or have staggered timings.
Maharashtra with close to 15,000 fresh cases saw a new high while Andhra Pradesh
(10,621) and Karnataka ( 9, 386) too registered large numbers of cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths recorded due to the deadly virus in one day was 1, 057 taking overall fatalities to 61, 529 according to the union health ministry.
According to
COVID19India.org, the total cases in India by Saturday evening were over 35 lakh and deaths over 63,000.
There are 7,62,950 active cases of Covid-19 in the country.
The Union health ministry pointed out that in the past five months, more than three-fourth of Covid-19 cases have recovered and less than one-fourth are active now. “The number of recoveries is nearly 3.5 times the active cases of Coronavirus infection currently,” health ministry officials said.
Uttar Pradesh on Friday reported 77
Covid-19-related deaths, taking the death toll in the state to 3,294, while
5,447 new cases pushed the infection tally to
2,13,824.
