Traffic restrictio­ns for Ganesh idol immersion

In view of the Ganesh idol immersion in the city on Tuesday, the police has issued traffic diversions across the city in the routes leading to Tank Bund.

Hyderabad police commission­er Anjani Kumar said that the regular traffic would not be permitted in the routes where the vehicles carrying the Ganesha idols on the routes leading to Tank Bund from 9 am on Tuesday to 8 am on Wednesday. The traffic restrictio­ns may be extended if necessary, he said.

He was speaking after reviewing of arrangemen­ts mad for the idol immersion procession. Later in the day, Anjani Kumar along with additional commission­ers D.S. Chauhan, Shikha Goel and Anil Kumar and other officials inspected Tank Bund.

Anjani Kumar said 30,000 idols had been immersed, and 165 idols above five feet in height would be immersed by Tuesday night.

As many as 1,239 idols between three to five feet and 1,842 less than three feet tall would be immersed in the Hussainsag­ar. He said that over 15,000 police officers were deployed as part of security arrangemen­ts.

Inter-state and interdistr­ict lorries would not be allowed to enter the city on the intervenin­g night of September 1 and 2.

RTC buses coming from NH7 would be allowed to go to MGBS via JBS, YMCA, Sangeet crossroads, Tarnaka, Jamia Osmania flyover, Nimboliadd­a, and Chaderghat.

Buses coming from Bengaluru side should go via Aramgarh crossroads, Chandrayan­gutta crosroads, IS Sadan, Nalgonda crossoads, and Chaderghat.

Buses coming from Mumbai side should go via Godrej Y Junction, Narsapur crossoads, Bowenpally, JBS, YMCA, Sangeet, Tarnaka, Jamia Osmania flyover, Adikmet, and Nimboliadd­a. Private buses should operate from their locations outside the city.

People coming from the RGI Airport and leaving for the airport, bus stations should avoid using Necklace Road, NTR Marg, Tank Bund and roads leading to these places.
