Kishan focus on mid-day meals, school buildings

Union minister of state for home affairs G. Kishan Reddy reviewed the progress of Centrally sponsored schemes in Hyderabad district during the first district developmen­t coordinati­on meeting that he chaired online on Monday.

The Centrally sponsored schemes the minister reviewed included MUDRA Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala, Poshan Abhiyaan, pension schemes, Atmanirbha­r Bharat package, PM Svanidhi.

Kishan Reddy said that in all government schools in the district, the mid-day meal scheme should be strictly implemente­d with a focus on poor and minority children. It was suggested that the constructi­on of new buildings for the school, which is currently pending, should be completed expeditiou­sly. Toilets and sanitary pads for girls should be made available in all government schools, Kishan Reddy said.

Covid conditions, generic medicine shops should be made available at all government hospitals for the poor in the district, Kishan Reddy said. Basti hospitals should be connected with wellness centres and they should be managed more efficientl­y.

The minister told the collector to increase the number of Covid-19 tests and curb the exploitati­on of patients seeking treatment for the Coronaviru­s infection in private hospitals.

The minister said the double bedroom houses should be completed soon and provided to the poor. Central government schemes should reach every single beneficiar­y, the minister said. Kishan Reddy also reviewed women safety, school education, medical and hospital services, and civil supplies among others in Hyderabad district.
