Kin of health workers who died of Covid to get ` 25L

● THE DOCTORS and other medical workers have been asking for ex gratia on the lines being paid in other states.

The state government has agreed to provide `25 lakh as ex gratia to all healthcare employees’ families in the government sector in the event of the loss of life of the medical worker, the joint action committee of doctors and health care workers said on Tuesday.

The JAC leaders met with health minister Etala Rajendar and discussed their long-pending demand of ex-gratia to health workers serving Covid-19 patients.

The doctors and other medical workers have been asking for ex gratia on the lines being paid in other states.

The JAC leaders said after the meeting that the health minister assured that all employees working in Covid-19 control and treatment, will have their families receive `25 lakh in the event of their death.

The minister also agreed to allot 50 beds to medical employees (regular, contract, outsourced etc.) including family members of such medical employees, to treat any Covid-19 infection related absence as being on duty.

The JAC leaders, Dr Bongu Ramesh, Dr Lalu Prasad Yadav, Dr. Puttla Srinivas, Bondugula Venkateswa­r Reddy, Jupalli Rajender, Dr B Narahari, Dr Rachu Rachha, and Dr Rauf were among those who discussed these issues with the health minister.
