TS Legislature adjourns after members test +tive
The Telangana Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council adjourned sine die on Wednesday owing to fear of the spread of
Covid-19, following a few members and staff testing positive.
Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy made an announcement in this regard in their Houses respectively.
The Speaker said the House was able to pass 12 Bills and adopted resolutions seeking the Bharat Ratna for former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and another against the proposed Electricity Amendment Bill 2020.
Explaining the reasons for the decision to discontinue the present session, the Speaker said “As 1200 people including legislators, police, media and others were attending the monsoon session, there is general apprehension about the spread of the
Covid-19 virus. Even though we have taken all precautions and adopted all the norms prescribed by the authorities, the mood of the house at large was that there is a possibility of spread of the pandemic.”
The Speaker and Council Chairman announced that that they consulted the floor leaders of all political
parties before taking the decision. The Speaker said that once the pandemic subsides the House will be able to meet again on some other day to continue discussions.

ter Vemula Prashanth Reddy said the session was cut short in view of the apprehensions about the spread of the virus, though the session was expected to continue till September 28.
