President to visit Srinagar on Sunday

President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Srinagar on Sunday to address a one-day session on the implementation of the new national educational policy in the country.

The President had on August 7 last year signed the Article 370 gazette, revoking the special status to J&K. The move came after both Houses of Parliament passed a resolution in this regard.
According to a statement issued here, the University of Kashmir in collaboration with the J&K government is organizing the one-day “brainstorming session” on the implementation of the National Education Policy at Srinagar’s Sheri-Kashmir International Convention Centre September 20.
The NEP-2020 was approved by the Union cabinet on July 29, and, as per the government, it is meant to provide an overarching vision and comprehensive framework for higher education across the country.
The statement said that President and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, have suggested that the universities and higher education ministries across the country shall hold brainstorming sessions involving all the stakeholders for deliberating upon the strategies regarding the smooth implementation of the NEP-2020 in the country.
“It is in this context, that the University of Kashmir is organizing a brainstorming session on Sunday here which shall be addressed to by the President and also J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Kumar Sinha,” the statement said.
The session will have three technical sitting with presentations scheduled on various themes of the national education policy by K. K. Sharma, advisor to J&K Lt, Governor of JK UT, Prof. Ved Prakash, former UGC-Chairman, all the five vice-chancellors of the universities in the Kashmir Valley, Director, NIT, Srinagar and a few college principals.
