French hair and make-up expert, Florian Hurel’s tryst with Bollywood
Thanks to his flawless and meticulous style of working, French hair and make-up expert Florian Hurel has made a mark in Bollywood. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and from Deepika Padukone to Sara Ali Khan, the divas swear by him. Working for A-list clientele can be tough, but Hurel sees it as endorsement of being on the top of the game.
“Working with A-list actors means being your best all the time. Zero mistakes are allowed and having the right attitude is very important. In an industry where time is money, I don’t have the luxury of going wrong. I work under strict deadlines with them and have to ensure that the perfect look is achieved at the first go. Therefore, I always ensure that I bring my A-game to the table,” smiles Hurel.
Ask him how he ensures systematic and efficient work under tight schedules, and he explains, “We always discuss the look within the team and then with the celebrity. I ensure that I get a very clear brief and I put in the best of my creativity and imagination. We all work together to get the right look, and together we achieve an impeccable and impactful look.”
Talking about one of his most satisfying experiences, Hurel
reveals, “Though I am always trying to challenge myself, a look I created for Deepika is one of my favourites. I created a twisted hair bun and combined it with a strong smoky eye look. I think makeup needs to have various cream eye shadows. Those are complex to work with, but we get the best reflection and shine.”
Sharing hacks of what keeps the skin of celebrities so radiant, he says, “I think sleeping with a face mask on, constant moisturising and drinking lots of water can work magic.”
