MPto hold virtual Assembly session
In a first of its kind in the country, Madhya Pradesh Assembly is going to hold a physical-cum-virtual session on Monday.
The one-day monsoon session of the house is scheduled to be held with physical presence of a minimum number of members, as required for quorum, while other members will take part in the proceedings online, state legislative Assembly secretary A.P. Singh said on Sunday.
This decision was taken at an all party meeting here keeping in view the worsening pandemic situation in MP, which has so far claimed 1,903 lives.
It has also been decided to curtail the three-daysession to a single day, assembly speaker Rameswar Sharma said.
According to Sharma, as many as 57 members, chosen by their respective parties, are scheduled to be physically present in the house to take part in the proceedings.
The government has made provisions for other members to take part in the business of the house online from National Informatics Centres (NIC) in their respective districts. “Since it will be difficult to enforce social distancing during the proceedings of the house, political parties have been asked to select a minimum number of legislators to be present in the house to take part in the business”, the speaker said.
Necessary financial and legislative businesses are scheduled to be completed after mentions and tributes to departed souls are taken up when the house meets for its oneday monsoon session on Monday. Total 750 questions had been received from members for discussion in the house during Question Hour.
