- DC CORRESPONDENTS

BJP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leaders said that they had lodged complaints against civil supplies minister Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) for his alleged attacks in temples.

BJP Amalapuram Parliamentary district president Manepalli Ayyaji Vema and others said they lodged a complaint against Rao in Amalapuram police station. Vema alleged that the minister had hurt the sentiments Hindus with his derogatory comments against Hindu gods and temples. He demanded that Rao resign as he had violated the Constitution.

Rajahmundry Rural BJP leader Y. Yesu and others lodged a complaint with Bommuru police. Bommuru circle inspector K. Lakshmana Reddy said that the BJP leaders submitted only a representation and not a complaint and no case was registered on the matter.

In Tirupati, local BJP functionaries lodged a complaint against Rao with the Tirupati Urban police on Monday, alleging that his remarks on the declaration of faith at Tirumala temple at a recent press meet were objectionable and hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

The activists, led by party spokespersons Bhanu Prakash Reddy and Samanchi Srinivas, tried to meet the SP, Avula Ramesh Reddy at the district police office. However, he was not available at that time and the BJP leaders handed over the complaint to officials at the DPO and sought the police to book cases against Kodali Nani under Sections 295, 295A and 153A IPC.
