GHM at ‘fault’ for shut Gough Road
● A JOINT survey with the revenue department for finalizing the extent of defence land that is required has been completed at the behest of defence authorities.
The contradictory pleas by GHMC while seeking land for laying of an alternate route for commuters using Gough Road are not in sync with the Corporation’s actual requirement and hence have been found untenable.
That was the clarity given by the local defence authorities while justifying the closure of Gough Road that runs through the AOC Centre in Secunderabad.
A PIB news release, citing defence authorities, said “Lack of urgency on the part of GHMC officials to implement the directions of the High Court that were passed in 2014 has led to continuous suffering of residents, who have been denied use of alternate roads.”
It said that a joint survey with the revenue department for finalizing the extent of defence land that is required has been completed at the behest of defence authorities.
A meeting has been scheduled with GHMC officials for Saturday to expedite the matter.
The release said that “defence authorities are hopeful that the state government will construct the alternate road to Gough Road, which has been pending despite the High Court having directed it in 2014.”
