Kuntala waterfall open to public

It was closed for 7 months due to the pandemic

Visitors are now being allowed to see the scenic beauty of the Kuntalawat­er fall.

The forest department has lifted the restrictio­ns on visitors under the pressure from tourists and visitors and is now allowing visitors after seven months, though visitors must follow Covid-19 norms

They also have to park their vehicles two km from the site and walk to the waterfall.

Forest officials were under tremendous pressure from the visitors and tourists to allow

them to go down the steps to watch the gushing Kuntala waterfall and enjoy its scenic beauty from up close.

There are several incidents where forest

employees and visitors quarrelled over the closure of Kuntala waterfall for visitors and tourists in the last seven months.

Some visitors mounted pressure on the forest staff through political leaders and sought permission to go to close to the bottom of the waterfall. However, forest staff did not allow the visitors and tourists to Kuntala waterfall in view of Covid-19 epidemic, despite political pressure.

Somanna of Kuntala village, reputed as a guard for the safety of the visitors, said the waterfall which remained closed for seven months was opened for visitors and now tourists can enjoy the waterfall which was gushing with water following the rains upstream. the
