Church statues found broken

Two statues of Jesus Christ and Mary Matha installed on premises of RCM Church at Mandapeta in East Godavari were desecrated in the early hours of Wednesday. According to Mandapeta police, unidentified miscreants broke the heads and hands of both the statues using a hammer.

Based on a complaint from one K. Ratnakar, police have booked a case under sections 294 and 427 of IPC.

Special teams have been formed to nab the desecrators.
