Flood relief turns poll campaign Cong tries unity mantra

-

The relief work taken up by political parties in flood-affected areas of Hyderabad is slowly taking the hue of a campaign for the oncoming GHMC elections. While TRS, Congress and BJP leaders are out and about on the flooded streets, Telugu Desam leaders who have been staying away from politics since the debacle in 2018 emerged from hibernation and joined them. In a surprise move, TS TD president L. Ramana was seen at Uppal along with his followers in a boat, meeting people and assuring them that the party stood behind them.

Repeated cautions from Manickam Tagore, AICC incharge of Telangana state affairs, appears to have persuaded party leaders that they be seen as being united, at least ahead of the Dubbaka byelection.

The Congress leaders on the campaign are stating that they have realised that they lost the 2018 Assembly elections as they were divided. They are claiming that they are all together now, and will win the Dubbaka bypoll. The leaders are assuring the people that they will always be available for them. Remember T. Harish Rao’s jibe that Congress leaders appear only during elections?
