Coloured media joins the war of CM-judges
The controversy over Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy shooting off a letter to Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde complaining against AP High Court judges and a senior SC judge is refusing to die down, with the continued mud-slinging between the YSRC and the Telugu Desam. Media houses supporting the respective parties have been publishing as well as airing views of serving Bar Council representatives and retired judges as per their requirement. Naturally, the incumbent lot threw their weight behind the serving judges, the retired judicial officials were a
divided lot. Some want the CM to be removed or his bail cancelled on grounds of intimidating the judiciary, while others conclude that the CJI cannot ignore the letter and he needs to act on it. A vernacular media organ which spits venom on Jagan went a step ahead and started tarnishing the image of retired judges who gave an interview to the Chief Minister’s media house suggesting a thorough probe by the CJI. It dug into the retired judge’s past and showed him in poor light. Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu on the other hand is trying to make the most out of the situation and claiming that Jagan will get 30 years in jail.
