TS REGISTERS 1,451 CASES, 9 COVID DEATHS

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The state recorded 1,451 new cases of Covid-19 and nine deaths on Friday, the health department said on Saturday. The caseload stands at 2,20,675 and the toll at 1,265. Of the 42,497 samples tested, the results of 1,174 are awaited.

A senior government doctor said, “Treating those who are in a critical condition is a challenge for the hospitals as it is noted that the patients have not understood the symptoms. Due to that, they are coming too late. There are many others who are confused about the symptoms.”

The rapidly changing weather conditions are causing symptoms of cough and cold similar to Covid-19, and may be masking the real Coronavirus disease. Many are also in denial mode due to the stigma and that leads to delayed testing, the doctor said.

The health department bulletin said 18,905 patients are in home and institutional isolation and the state has 22,774 active cases. On Friday, 1,983 patients were declared recovered, taking their number to 1,96,636 overall. The GHMC area recorded 235 new cases, Ranga Reddy district 104 and Malkajgiri 101.
