Plea against encouraging vulgar ads
BY A STAFF REPORTER
SECUNDERABAD, Oct. 17 Mr C. A. Narayan, Chairman of the Indian and Eastern Newspaper Society, today called upon the Advertising Club of Hyderabad to give a lead and see that overemphasis on sex in advertising is not encouraged.
Mr. Narayan was replying to the toast raised by the VicePresident of the Club, Mr. S. K. Khanna.
Mr Narayan at the outset commended the Club’s activities and expressed his admiration for it.
He said he was not against sex in advertising but it should not be vulgar.
“Advertising has come to stay, it is the food that nourishes the trade,” he declared. He appealed to advertisers to use all newspapers and particularly the language press.
Despite numerous problems like newsprint control and others, the press today in this country is free, he asserted.
