Rain alert till Oct. 21

The Indian Meteorolog­ical Department has put Telangana state on notice again for the next four days, saying the state could witness thundersto­rms accompanie­d with lightning and heavy rains.

For Tuesday, the outlook, according to the Met office, includes heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in the districts of south Telangana state.

In what might not be good news for both Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh, already reeling under the impact of the heavy rains earlier this week, the Met office said a fresh cyclonic circulatio­n now lies over west central Bay of Bengal off the south coast of Andhra Pradesh that could form into a low pressure area over central Bay of Bengal around October 19.

Hyderabad on Tuesday averaged more than 10 cm of rain, according to the Telangana State Developmen­t Society which runs a slew of automated weather stations.

The highest rainfall in the GHMC area, between 8.30 am and

10 pm, was recorded at Bandlaguda at 15.3 cm while Nagole recorded 14.28 cm, Shaikpet 13.38 cm, Alkapoori in Saroornaga­r 13.25 cm, and LB Nagar recorded

12.98 cm of rainfall. The weather station at Monda Market in Secunderab­d recorded 9.7 cm, while 8.5 cm was recorded at Sadarmahal in Charminar, 8.15 cm was recorded at Marredpall­y, and 7.95 cm in Srinagar Colony.
