Industries minister K. T. Rama Rao has announced that a mini textile park will be set up at Kodakandla of Jangaon district in response to minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao’s request and consequent orders by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Presiding over a review meeting with Textile Department officials at Pragati Bhavan on Monday, KTR said while there are thousands of skilled weavers working in Kodakandla, many of them had migrated to other states for better employment opportunities.

“However, after formation of Telangana, many weavers are showing interest in returning to the state after the state government started supporting the textile sector. With hundreds of people seeking setting up of a textile park in Kodakandla, the state government is working towards making their dream come true,” KTR stated.

Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao thanked K. T. Rama Rao for making the announcement and said the park, once fully functional, will bring many benefits to the 20,000 weaving families in Kodakandla area.

Reviewing various programmes being undertaken by Telangana government in handloom and textile sectors, KTR assured that all welfare programs currently being extended to weavers will continue. He further said government will continue its annual Bathukamma saree programme on a large scale for supporting power loom workers in the state.

Rama Rao underlined that weavers had benefited immensely during the Coronavirus pandemic through ‘Nethannaku Cheyuta’ programme launched in the past.
