Steady decline in Coronaviru­s cases

Delhi govt conducts dry run for Coronaviru­s vaccine

Thirteen more cases of new, mutated UK virus of Covid-19 have been detected in the samples of people who have travelled back from the United Kingdom taking the total number of cases infected with the new strain to 71.

India so far has reported

1,03,74,932 cases out of which

18,088 were detected in the last

24 hours. Till now 1,54,114 deaths have been recorded out of which 264 are fresh fatalities. The Union health ministry said there is a steady decline in the number of daily deaths in the country and less than 300 new deaths have been recorded in the country in the last 12 days.

The Delhi government conducted its own dry run for the vaccine on Wednesday. “The Central government is gearing up for the roll out of Covid-19 vaccine across the country. Union ministry of health has been pro-actively carrying out the preparatio­ns for roll out of the vaccine, in collaborat­ion with states/UTs and all stakeholde­rs, over the past couple of months to ensure that the preparatio­ns for roll-out of

Covid-19 vaccine are on track. “As a simulation of actual execution, another round of dry run/mock drill in all 700 plus districts of all states/UTs (except UP and Haryana who have already conducted/ will be conducting the dry run in all districts on 5th January and

7th January, respective­ly) is planned on 8th January 2021 to ensure efficient planning and

management for vaccine delivery in each district of all states/UTs. Each district will identify three types of session sites, similar to the previous dry run including a public health facility (District Hospital/Medical College), private health facility and rural or urban outreach sites,”

Union health ministry officials said.

Two Covid-19 vaccines have been given emergency use authorisat­ion by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) recently.

The roll out of vaccine is expected soon.
