‘Playing a porn star is very challenging’
Ester Noronha is excited about her role in Heroine
Having been part of the biopic, Shakeela, Ester Noronha has now signed a film titled Heroine. She will play a porn star in the erotic crime thriller to be directed by Thirupathi S.R.
The Bhimavaram Bullodu actress admits that she was initially taken aback when the filmmaker approached her for the role. “I was shocked! I asked my director how I could fit into such a role and deliver, how the audience would see me in such a role,” she says, adding that perhaps her role in Shakeela had prompted the director to approach her. “Later, he explained the whole story and my character design. I felt it was very interesting and decided to sign on,” she shares, explaining that she wants to explore new roles and push the envelope of her acting skills.
“As an actress I should broaden my horizons and play challenging roles. Coming from a GoanMangalorean community and trying to look like a Telugu girl has always been challenging. Hence, I felt that exploring new roles will take me closer to the audience,” says Ester.
“The film is about how society at large looks at and deals with celebs, women, porn stars, etc. It’s

a fictional tale,” she states.
Ester will be enacting a few bold scenes in the film. Asked how she’s been preparing for the part, the actress says getting into the role of a porn star is very challenging. But being a psychology student, she hopes to absorb the typical behavioural patterns and mindset quickly. “I am trying to watch films in the genre and observe how actors have looked the part,” she says. “The director and I are constantly working on the challenging aspects in the part. Perhaps people will start speculating and label me differently on learning about my role (pornstar), but they will understand the essence of it after watching the film,” she says.
Ester says when she did Bheemavaram Bullodu, she was just 19. “But I played the role of a girl who is much older in the film and I had to put on weight,” she said, adding that she has already started efforts to lose weight for her role in Heroine.
On the personal front, the 1000 Abaddalu star recently got divorced. “It was a very challenging period for me but my parents stood like a pillar of support during the tough times,” she shares.
“Spirituality gave me the strength to overcome those traumatic times,” the
actress adds, signing
off.
