An acting course for Neha
The Mehbooba actress talks about learning acting at the New York Film Academy, and her next film, Rowdy Baby
After making her Telugu debut with the 2018-film Mehbooba, Neha Shetty went missing in action. The promising talent, however, tells us that in the late 2019, she was in the New York Film Academy (NYFA) for acting classes though she returned to India in January 2020. “And just when I hoped to do something productive, the pandemic struck,” she says with a smile.
Neha, who plays the female lead in the Sundeep Kishan-starrer, Rowdy Baby, states she’s putting everything she has learnt into practising. “I got into acting at a very young age, so I have realised that I have not picked up the nuances. Everything I did came from within. When people began asking me whether I’d done any acting course, I thought of giving it a try at the best academy, the NYFA,” explains Neha.
According to Neha, the course did a world of good for her. “I went to the academy with an open mind and came back as a better person. During the six-month course, I learnt
acting several things and realised there were several ways of showcasing matured performance and emotions. I am glad that the acting course is helping me in my current film,” she explains.
Neha also reveals that the course consisted of acting workshops, role plays and performing live tasks.
“Filmmakers too would join us for sessions and nurture our acting skills with their expertise. It was a great learning experience,” she points out, adding that she’s back with more energy.
In her forthcoming film, Rowdy Baby, Neha will be seen as a Vizaggirl. The backdrop of the G.Nageshwar-Reddy directorial is Vizag.
“I play a simple household girl, which is close to how I am in real life. The crew is very young and the character too is very fresh and I am super excited about the role,” she says.
Then adding that she did a lot of self-introspection during the lockdown, Neha shares that given the time she had for herself, she delved into psychology. “I also tried my hands on online yoga classes along with a couple of friends,” she adds, signing off.
