Director Ali Abbas Zafar’s new web show has landed into controversy for allegedly offending Hindu religious sentiments
The much hyped web series Tandav released recently, decked with stars like Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Sunil Grover, has come into scrutiny.
While one school of trolls are accusing the show of targeting the Dalits, others’ are pointing fingers for hurting Hindu sentiments.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub who plays a student leader is seen essaying the role of Lord Shiva for a play on stage hurling a volley of abuses.
Hindu organisations are up in arms asking the Tandav makers to apologise as well as asking the
Information and Broadcasting Ministry to take action against the makers of the show.
The said controversial clip has gone viral and the hashtag #BoycottTandav among others have been trending on social media. “Why always target Hindu god .every movie Bollywood target Hindu god .need stop this with boycott flims #BoycottTandav,” says a tweet with the said clip. “A deliberate attempt by the makers to offend Hindus, it’s a trap that guarantees them a free promotion. More you boycott, more you talk about it. The only solution to this is bring OTT platforms under regulation becs Hindus choose to be tolerant. #BanTandavNow, (sic)” says Pradip Bhandari.
Apart from that, hashtags asking to boycott Saif Ali Khan and the makers are also doing the rounds. The makers are yet to respond.
