TRSMA: Issue new rules before Feb. 1

A five-member Private Institutio­ns Joint Action Committee (PIJAC) and representa­tives of the Telangana Recognised Schools Management Associatio­n (TRSMA) told the government that issues and challenges facing the private institutio­ns need to be resolved before re-opening of schools and colleges on February 1.

The primary demands of both parties at a meeting with education minister Sabitha Indira Reddy was the issuance of guidelines pertaining to reopening of educationa­l institutio­ns, release of the academic calendar, and financial support to budget private institutio­ns to meet the expenditur­e and losses due to non-receipt of fees.

They demanded that the government bear the sanitisati­on expenses of budget private institutio­ns, and support students in the form of fee reimbursem­ent.

The TRSMA requested the minister to grant permission to allow students from Classes 1 to 8 to visit the school for submission of assignment­s for correction­s and clarify doubts till the schools reopen, to minimise learning loss. They demanded an extension of the academic year till July 31, and to conduct the SSC public exams in May.
