Hotels offer special attractions on R-Day
Prominent buildings also lit up with decorative lights
A display of culinary skills from various states added to the festive flavour of Republic Day eve celebrations here this time. Hotels and restaurants decorated themselves with Tricolour themes on a variety of food while a residential colony saw a torchlight march on Monday.
Schools organised essay-writing competitions with Republic Day as central theme. Musicians held a programme in the evening, singing their favourite songs linked to the freedom struggle and unity of India, and worked the crowds to a frenzy.

It was the residents of Gunfoundry who took out a torch rally after sunset, singing patriotic songs. “The burning torches and partotic songs gave us a thrill and reminded us of the freedom struggle,” said Pawan Kumar.
