Varsities unfurl tricolour amid Covid-19 guidelines
Officials at universities and other educational institutions hoisted the National Flag celebrated the the 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday, amid Covid-19 guidelines.
At the TS Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) premises, Chairman Prof. Papi Reddy, along with vicechairpersons Prof. Limbadri and Prof Venkatramana and staff and officers and those of the Fee Regulation Committee took part in the celebrations.
At the TS Board of Intermediate Education, the commissioner and secretary hoisted the flag.
JNTU, Osmania University, English and Foreign Languages University, among others, took the opportunity to thank their staff and gave the message of keeping strength in hard times, especially over the past one year.

He also mentioned the new education policy and urged the faculty and students to offer suggestions to revise the curricula to make them multi-disciplinary.

Govardhan, Rector, and Dr Manzoor Hussain, registrar, began the celebrations by garlanding the statues of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Jawaharlal Nehru Nehru on the campus. A gathering of teaching and non-teaching staff, outsourcing staff and students of JNTUH was addressed by a speech amid Covid-19 safety protocols.
At Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor, paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and said the Father of the Nation in his book ‘Mere Sapnaon ka Bharat’ had echoed views that were later enshrined in the Constitution.
Referring to the new education policy, Prof. Rahmatullah said that Manuu has started preparation of electronic content (e-content) and hoped Manuu will become the first university in the country to do this kind of work.
Prof. Siddiqui Mohammed Mahmood, Registrar, Prof. Abul Kalam, Proctor, Mr. M G Gunasekaran, Finance Officer and other officials and heads of the different departments were present on the occasion.
