Dada suffers chest pain, hospitalised

- RAJIB CHOWDHURI | DC

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who had suffered a ‘mild’ cardiac arrest earlier this month and underwent a stent implantation in one of his three arteries with blockages, was admitted to the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on Wednesday afternoon after he reportedly felt a minor chest pain and dizziness again at home in the morning.

Wearing a blue jacket, Ganguly was however seen walking into the private hospital off EM Bypass near the Salt Lake stadium steadily after getting down from his car in the convoy which brought him through a Green Corridor, created by the Kolkata Police, from his Behala residence in South Kolkata. His wife Dona accompanied him.

Sourav “has come for a check up of his cardiac condition. There is no change in his parameters since his last hospitalisation and his vital parameters are stable,” the private hospital stated, according to sources.

The BCCI chief has been kept under observation in a cabin under cardiologists

Dr Aftab Khan and Dr Saroj Mondal and family friend Dr Saptarshi Basu. This is the second time, Sourav, who has a family history of ischemic heart disease, fell ill in less than a month. On January 2 he was admitted to Woodlands Hospital after suffering a mild heart attack leading to a blackout during a fitness session on the treadmill at the gym of his residence.

Like the last time, Union home minister Amit Shah inquired about Sourav’s health from BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya. Later, CAB chief Avishek Dalmiya and his elder sister and Bally MLA Baishali visited Sourav. Baishali said, “Sourav is keeping well. His medical reports are good.”
