NCM OFFICIAL MEETS GOVERNOR, CHIEF SECRETARY
Vice-Chairman of National Commission for Minorities Atif Rasheed on Friday held a meeting with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and reviewed the implementation of Prime Minister's new 15-point programme for minorities welfare and various Central and State government schemes.Rasheed also called on Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle he said that the officials presented a detailed report on various schemes initiated for the uplift of educational and financial stability of minorities, including Shadi Mubarak scheme.
He said they also highlighted the state’s contribution in centrally-sponsored schemes for minorities.
He said that he will visit Wakf Board office and review its functioning on Saturday. The Centre has received complaints about the activities of the Board, he said.
During his three-day stay in the city, he will also review grounding of schemes meant for minorities and hold discussions with people of different minority communities. He held a discussion in the evening with representatives of Christian community and heard the issues confronting the community in Telangana.
Haneef Ali, member of Central Wakf Council was also present.
