India to be hub for cybersecurity
IT industry gurus make prediction on 15th anniversary of SCSC
India will be a global hub for cyber security products and services in future, the gurus of IT industries predicted at celebrations marking completion of 15 years for the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) here on Friday.
This is a collaborative body involving the Cyberabad Police and the IT Industry, which was established in 2006.
Home minister Md. Mahmood Ali, DGP M. Mahendar Reddy, principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan, B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, founding chairman of Cyient, along with the police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda were present.
A coffee table book was released by Mahmood Ali, which recorded the special moments from the past. It offers an overview of the entity’s 15 years of journey and lists the major milestones. The book, SCSC said, is a fitting tribute to those who stood by SCSC and nurtured it.
The home minister said the SCSC is the perfect example of public-private partnership. “The only difference between human beings and animals is our ability to help others. During the lockdown, SCSC has come forward to help many,” he noted.
Mahendar Reddy explained how SCSC has become a role model for the best collaborative efforts between the industry and the police. “It has become a benchmarking institution. As DGP, I am proud of it. It must be replicated in all districts. The benefits of technology must go through the police service delivery. To that effect, we started digitisation of our services. We have taken up CCTV projects on a war footing,” he said.
Mahender Reddy said the response time the police take to reach the crime scene is five minutes in the state capital and eight minutes in the rural areas. This is thanks to technology.
Delivering the keynote address, Mohan Reddy said he stepped out of home after a gap of 320 days to meet all the industry friends and participate in the celebrations. “SCSC model is the first of its kind not just in India even outside India,” he said.
“Cyber Security will be the focus area not only now but more for the future. India will be the global hub for cyber security products and services,” he said.
