Preetika scorches Gaudium track
Preetika Reddy Bayyapu and Vibha Rao won the
300 metres events in the Girls Under 12 and 14 age groups respectively at the inaugural Gaudium Sportopia Athletics Annual Meet on Saturday.
Preetika covered the distance in 50.1 seconds and was followed by Sahasra Shetty (50.4 secs) and Praanjala Nisarga
(53.8 secs).
In the U-14, Vibha sprinted through the 300 metres in 46.6 seconds, leaving behind Rohita Kotra (47.0) and P. Akshitha (50.8) who finished second and third.
Rohita Kotra beat Vibha Rao and S. Rajasri in the
U-16 girls 60 metres while G. Roopsri raced ahead of Nida Adeel Mohammed and Shivani Reddy Gongireddy in the girls U16 100 metres event organised by Gaudium Sportopia, Hyderabad District Athletic Association and the Khel Udaan initiative.
Sharath Chandra, Ritivik and Gaurav Chalasani finished in that order at the boys U-10 basketball throws.

Association president Jayesh Ranjan, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the athletic track at The Gaudium School Sportopia and Artopia. “I congratulate Gaudium institution for setting up
such a wonderful facility. What we see here is absolutely amazing, the intention is not just to comply with some formality but to create excellent infrastructure which will motivate children and students to take up sports in a very structured and organised way,” he said.
Also present on the occasion were national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, national athletics coach and Dronacharya awardee N. Ramesh and Ms Kirthi Reddy, Director, The Gaudium. “This facility will benefit professional athletes from other parts of the country,” Gopi said.
Competitions were also held in broad and long jumps, 400 and 600 metres races, and 1 and 2 kilometre runs in different age categories.
