2021 seems to have begun with a bang for Raashii Khanna. She has four films lined up in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. She feels working in different films is transforming her into a better actor. “Any film that we are part of will help us grow as actors,” she says, adding, “I am back on to the sets after the lockdown with renewed spirit.”

Revealing that earlier, she would ask herself ‘What next’, the actress says the pandemic has taught her to live in the moment. “I have realised that life is uncertain, so live life as it comes and enjoy each moment the best way you can,” she says, talking of her new philosophy.

In 2020, she grew a lot spiritually, says Raashii. “The lockdown made me work on myself. I started giving more time to meditate. Earlier, I did not have time to due to pressure of work. But during the lockdown, I revived the habit and grew spiritually. It helped me stay strong and be more confident,” she says. The Prati Roju Pandage star says she is pleased to be back in Malayalam after three years, adding that the prep for Malayalam films is a tad different from other industries. “You need to be more expressive in Telugu and Malayalam films, and Tamil is a combination of expressiveness and being composed. So as an actor I am trying to explore and understand the culture by striking a balance among the films,” shares the Supreme actress.

Just as she learnt Telugu to make her roles authentic, did she learn Tamil and Malayalam, we ask. “I got the hang of Tamil, but it took some time. I guess Malayalam is something I need to sit and learn. I am trying to understand the language. No wonder it is called tonguetwister,” shares the Tholi Prema star.

Her recent pictures on social media handle suggest that she’s happier than ever before. Asked to comment, she says with a laugh,

“That’s because of the lockdown. I guess when you’re at peace and your inner self is happy, it reflects on your face and work. I am at peace in my heart.”

Enthusing about the impact of travelling on the personality, Raashii says, “Travelling is the most amazing thing, and it gives you time to understand yourself, power and makes you confident. Confiding that she’s missing travelling solo, she however says her parents have asked her to be cautious.

Raashii’s sister got engaged recently, and she had a great time bonding with her family and friends on the occasion. So, when is she planning to settle down, we ask. “Not for the next three years,” she replies, adding that she’s been enjoying her film stint. Asked what she looks for in a partner, she says he should be empathetic and responsible.

Raashii is also starring alongside Shahid Kapoor in a web project directed by Raj and D.K. How does it feel, working in multiple languages? “Working in multiple languages will help you connect to a wider audience. I feel blessed and thankful for the opportunities I have got,” she signs off.
