Talk of the town

DWesigner Manish Malhotra recently visited the city to complete a photo-shoot at his store in Jubilee Hills. A large group of celeb-struck Hyderabadi socialites began fighting over the man’s time — with many pulling him from all sides so they could host a dinner or lunch in his honor.

Desperate much!

At a recent jewellery exhibition, all eyes were on a couple of ladies — Supriya Chavva, Naini Chavva and Pratima Gannapatti — who actually bought some pieces. Many others who were present too, just wore the pretty jewels and posed for pictures!

We also hear another super rich, old business family has been buying basara pearls, (not at this exhibition though) by the baskets, as they thought that is the best investment. Basara pearls are very valuable now and the prices will only go up further, say jewellers.

The other option is to invest money is land, but apparently that involves many hassles.

T he best gift/wish chief minister KCR got on his birthday is from minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He offered a 2.5 kg gold saree to Goddess Yellamma — believed to be the most powerful and benevolent deity at the Balkampet Temple — seeking her blessings for the CM.

Even Nita Ambani, when in Hyderabad during IPL, seeks the deity’s blessings. And her team has gone places. T he EO has had to cut back on the number of people they were taking to the Maldives this month, due to several cancellations and drop-outs, thanks mainly due to the fear of Covid and the uncertainty around the vaccine. While most members have taken their jabs, a few want to wait and watch, cherry-picking the brand that works best and has least sideeffects. W hile many celebrated Valentine’s Day this year in the privacy of their homes, steering clear of public places, some couples were brave enough to venture out, with the most exclusive party being at the private poolside of the Nizam Suite at the Falaknuma,

WHO can’t wait to get their hands on a Tesla car when its launched in the country? Priyanka Chigurupati, the pharma-heiress, who owned a Model X while she was in the United States.

WHAT has Ahmed Alam Khan been buying, in plenty, lately? Antiques and objet d'art for his palatial house near Gandipet, which has become the object of much envy among his neighbours in the area on account of its behemoth size.

WHERE has a city businessman bought a villa, which he plans to use as a holiday home? In Goa!

But, we hear, from an insidesource, the paranoid man has even put cameras in the loos and bathrooms, to have leverage over his visitors. Scandalous!

WHEN did Shafat Ali Khan, the maneater hunter from the city, kill a leopard in Tamil Nadu? Last month, making him the leading gun-forhire for forest officials across the country.

T

. Rajeev Reddy hosted an exclusive dinner for Nikhil Kamath, India’s youngest billionaire and founder of the trading brokerage firm Zerodha. With a very small guest list of some of the city’s most genteel, this particular soirée had many of his friends wanting to be on the invite-list.

This is the mark of an exclusive do — do not invite everybody!

Jisshu Sengupta is slowly but surely becoming a name to reckon with in Tollywood. Moreover, his impressive show in films, such as Aswathama and Bheeshma is now proving to be vital for his forthcoming films.

We hear that the Mardaani 2 star will play the main antagonist in Chiranjeevi’s forthcoming film, Acharya. Apparently, the film’s director Koratala Siva cast Jisshu for the part after watching his performance in Aswathama.

Director Koratala Siva, who believes that a tough baddie can only elevate a film’s narrative, generally has strong antagonists in his films. Getting a seasoned performer like Jisshu could only raise the intensity and the action sequences in the film.

According to a source, “When Jisshu started shooting, the director felt he stands vindicated for casting him in the role of a villain. Being a true performer, Jisshu excelled in his role, impressing even Chiranjeevi.”

Meanwhile, Jisshu will be seen as Shoban Babu in

the forthcoming Jayalalitha biopic, Thalaivi, starring Kangana Ranaut.
