Only Cong can do justice to youth, employees: Uttam

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, FEB. 19

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked the party cadre to focus on winning both the Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda, and the Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar graduate constituencies of the Legislative Council.

Reddy addressed a review meeting on Friday with the leaders of TPCC, DCC, Assembly, town and mandal office bearers of all departments and cells, virtually. The two Congress candidates, former minister G. Chinna Reddy (Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar) and ex-MLC Ramulu Naik (Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda) participated in the meeting.

The Nalgonda Lok Sabha MP said that both Chinna Reddy and Ramulu Naik have a clean image, vast experience in politics and a great record of serving people. He said that both of them were true warriors of the Telangana movement. Therefore, he said they have a great potential of winning the MLC elections compared to their rivals fielded by the TRS and BJP.

The TPCC chief said that MLCs Palle Rajeshwar Rao of the TRS and N. Ramchander Rao of the BJP had done nothing for their graduates' constituencies during the last six years. They miserably failed to represent their constituents, especially employees, professionals and jobless youth.

He said Rajeshwar Rao, who is re-contesting from the Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda constituency, utilised his post to turn his educational institutions into a university.

The TPCC chief directed all party leaders to convince voters that only Congress candidates could represent their problems in a fruitful manner. He said that both TRS and BJP have commercialised politics.

The Modi government at the Centre and the KCR government in Telangana state have not fulfilled any of the promises they made to people. The best way to punish the ruling parties for non-fulfilment of promises

was ensuring the victory of Congress candidates for both MLC seats.

He said a message should be conveyed to employees that they would get appropriate fitment and decent hike in HRA only if they defeat TRS and BJP in MLC polls. Similarly, he said that jobless youth must give TRS a big shock if they wish to get the promised unemployment allowance of `3,016 per month.

Uttam Reddy said that the BJP government has neglected Telangana ever since its formation in 2014. He said none of the promises made to Telangana under the AP Reorganisation Act were fulfilled. He said a railway coach factory at Kazipet and a steel plant at Bayyaram could have generated hundreds of jobs. But the Centre did not initiate these projects.

The Congress leader said that TRS was not serious in filling up 1.91 lakh vacancies in different departments, having focussed only on taking loans of over `3 lakh crore to fund various irrigation projects to get kick-backs.

Commenting on the murder of lawyer couple, Gattu Vaman Rao and Nagamani, he said that Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao did not condemn the incident even after two days. By remaining silent, the Chief Minister was sending a wrong message to TRS men with criminal background that they were free to carry on illegal activities. He reiterated the demand that a CBI enquiry should be ordered into the murders.
