4 building workers killed in 2 separate accidents

Four persons from the city were killed in two different road accidents at Petbasheer­abad and Abdullapur­met areas of Cyberabad and Rachakonda respective­ly.

In the first incident, two constructi­on workers died after a trolley loaded with iron rods and constructi­on material overturned at a constructi­on site in Petbasheer­abad on Tuesday afternoon. Police said the mishap occurred when the foundation laying work was being taken up for an apartment.

“The trolley driver, who reportedly attempted to get down a slope to unload the constructi­on material, lost control of the vehicle, which went out of control and down the slope. It overturned at the end of the slope, crushing under it the two workers, identified as Upender and Manohar, who were in a pit being laid for pillars at the site,” police said, adding that a case was booked and the bodies were shifted for postmortem examinatio­n. In the second csae, two persons, identified as Jangaiah and Mohammed, both constructi­on workers, were killed in a mishap after a rashly driven truck hit them at Abdullapur­met on the city outskirts on Tuesday morning. Police said the incident occurred when the two were proceeding on a bike from their village towards Banda Ravirala side. “Both sustained grievous bleeding injuries and succumbed on the spot” said the Abdullapur­met police, adding that they are investigat­ing the case and efforts are on to nab the absconding truck driver.
