RURAL SCHOOLS SEE HIGHER TURNOUT THAN HYD KIDS

About 33-35 per cent attendance was recorded in government and local body schools in the rural schools in Classes 6-8 but it was a mere three per cent in the city. Only 815 students attended schools out of 26,132 enrolled, as per government data, in Hyderabad. The second lowest attendance was recorded in Komaram Bheem district at 10 per cent.

The highest turnout was recorded in the Kamareddy district at 37 per cent, or 7,699 students in attendance out of

20,725 in 314 schools followed by Jagtial and Jangaon districts with 34 per cent and Mahbubnaga­r district with 33 per cent.

In private schools, the lowest attendance was recorded in the Mulugu district at five per cent or 107 out of 2,106 students turning up in 45 schools. Karimnagar and Mahbubabad districts recorded six per cent, whereas the highest attendance at 83 per cent was recorded in the Jayashanka­r district with

1,431 out of 1,717 students attending in 65 schools.

In Hyderabad, only 14 per cent attended school in Classes

6-8. The lowest cumulative attendance in all schools was recorded in Karimnagar district at 10 per cent and the highest at Jagtial and Narayanpet districts at 30 per cent. Hyderabad recorded a cumulative attendance of 13 per cent on Friday, as per the data released by the school education department. Classes 9 and 10 in government schools recorded at 75 per cent attendance on Friday, and private schools 73 per cent.
