A noble gesture

- SASHIDHAR ADIVI

At a time when celebs are leveraging their social media to amplify information on Covid-19 related matters, Harshvardhan Rane has started to raise funds for oxygen concentrators. Sharing this news on his Instagram Stories, he said he put his bike for sale to buy O2 concentrators. What made the actor come up with such a gesture? The actor replied, “Whenever I go for a workout or jog, I cross my motorcycle in the parking lot. And when I see it, I feel a sense of deep guilt — that I have something parked here but someone somewhere doesn’t even have oxygen to breathe. So I decided to give up my bike in exchange for the oxygen concentrators.”

Harshvardhan says that he feels guilty looking at the terrifying things that are happening around the country. “I can’t even think of complaining about anything in life because people out there are scrambling for hospital beds, oxygen supplies, and life-saving medicines, etc. The whole scenario is so scary and this is not even a tiny spec in the vast universe,” he said, adding that giving away the motorcycle is only his “tiny bit” of trying to help.

“It’s nothing compared to what’s going on, my gesture is a basic human reaction. To give away what you have to someone who is in dire need during this hour is humanity,” explains the actor who further states that he can live without the motorcycle but one cannot live without oxygen. Many people have offered to buy the motorcycle, however, with the current lockdown in Mumbai; the actor is looking for logistics.

For someone who is passionate about motorcycles, trading the bike must be an emotional moment. “It is, but I can still live without it,” he elucidates.

Like most people, Harshvardhan too says we was unprepared for this second wave of Covid-19.

Avika Gor seems to have returned to Tollywood this year with renewed spirit. After she had signed two films, Thank You and another yet-to-be-titled film under director Sredhar Seepana, the actress has signed another film, under director Balveer for producer Sajja Venkateswara Rao. The director says that the film is an investigative thriller with fantasy elements. “Avika will play the role of a journalism student; her character will have a lot of spunk,” shares the director, adding he had zeroed in on her after the actress lost weight. “Avika is a performer. I thought we can show her in a new dimension with her weight loss, as she perfectly fits the role of a student,” adds the director.

The actress has also undergone workshops for a few days for the part. “She will be seen as a girl who is constantly doing research, backpacking, and traveling, etc. She had worked a bit on her looks and diction,” says the director, adding that Avika was excited in her first narration itself over zoom call.
