Alia Bhatt’s bedroom in her new flat in New York Loft Apartments

-

Alia Bhatt’s home, designed by Richa Bahl, exudes oldeworlde charm, as per Alia’s brief.

The actress zeroed in on Richa to design her dream home after they met on the sets of Shaandaar, directed by Richa’s husband Vikas Bahl. The film may not have been a hit, but Alia and Richa sure hit it off !

Richa had designed the office of Phantom Films, and Alia liked the ambiance. She told the designer that she didn’t want her home to be ultra-modern — no fancy chandeliers, no marble flooring.

Accordingly, a four-bedroomhall-kitchen house was converted into a 3BHK to begin with. A dressing room was added on, so that when Alia is accompanied by her entourage while working, the rest of the household is not disturbed.

The house has white walls and concrete tiles, and large windows looking out on to greenery. There is a tea bar, and a bookshelf on which books on history, presumably belonging to Alia’s mother

Soni Razdan, keep company with authors like JK Rowling, Douglas

Adams and Stieg Larsson, indicating the actress’ personal taste in reading.

Incidentally, Richa has also designed Parineeti Chopra’s new home.

Not many may be aware that Alia’s director-actress mother Soni Razdan is also an interior designer, and her grandfather Narendranath Razdan was an architect in London.

Alia shares her house with her sister Shaheen, after she moved out of her parents’ home.

She has also purchased a new house at Bandra. We wait to see how that one turns out.
