Pinarayi: Cong. won 10 seats with BJP’s help

- GILVESTER ASSARY I DC

A day after scripting historic victory, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came up with serious allegations against the Congress-led UDF accusing it of winning at least 10 constituencies by trading votes with the BJP.

At the first meet-thepress programme after his re-election, the Chief Minister said the BJP votes came down by 4.28 lakh while the votes secured by Congress-led UDF registered an increase of 4 lakh votes. He said right through the campaign and after elections the UDF leaders were sure of their victory based calculations of votes trade.

The vote trade happened at the behest of top leaders of UDF and BJP, he alleged.

How did the BJP lose 4,28,500 votes in 90 constituencies? Vijayan asked.

While the votes of all parties had increased because of the addition of new voters this time, how come the BJP did not register such an increase ? the Chief Minister asked.

Vijayan alleged that the vote trading had taken place on a much higher scale than what is visible on the ground.

The Chief Minister attributed the victory of UDF in the following ten constituencies account of votes trading Kundara, Thrippunithura, Chalakudy, Kovalam, Kaduthuruthy, Pala, Kuttiadi , Quilandy.

The Chief Minister said the BJP votes had also decreased in districts where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda and several Union ministers and Chief Minister’s had campaigned.

“It is for the leadership of the BJP which rules the country to introspect whether what is being done by the state leaders is appropriate,” Vijayan said.

Vijayan said that his government’s first priority would be to check the growing number of Covid cases.

Regarding formation of new government and ministers, the Chief Minister said all these issues would be discussed and finalised in LDF leadership meeting.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan and tendered his resignation. The new government under him is likely to be sworn in next week.
