‘Operation Catfish’ to check damage to TRS

TRS leadership has launched “Operation Catfish” to prevent party cadre in Karimnagar district from supporting former minister Etala Rajendar.

After being relieved of his ministry on allegation­s of grabbing assigned lands in Achampet and Hakimpet in Medak district, Rajendar had started gaining considerab­le sympathy from people not only in his Huzurabad constituen­cy and Karimnagar district, but also from various parts of the state. Even leaders of opposition parties came out in support of him.

UNDER THE circumstan­ces, many were surprised when Banda Srinivas, one of the main followers of the sacked minister, advised against quitting the party. Rajendar’s close confidante­s feel Banda Srinivas statement is part of Operation Catfish.

TRS party cadre along with second rung leaders, TRS party leadership launched a perfect action plan beforehand. As part of it, the party leadership directed Karimnagar public representa­tives to counter the former minister by luring second rung leaders of his main followers with nominated posts under “Operation Catfish”.

Incidental­ly, many of the former minister’s followers had publicly said they will get out of the TRS party if something happened to their leader. Some senior leaders among them even encouraged Rajendar to establish a new political party.

Under the circumstan­ces, many were surprised when Banda Srinivas, one of the main followers of the sacked minister, advised against quit TRS party. Rajendar’s close confidante­s feel Banda Srinivas statement is part of Operation Catfish.

Meanwhile, pamphlets are under circulatio­n in the name of “Praja Arogya Pariraksha­na Sangham” seeking IT raids and a CBI probe into properties acquired by former minister Etala Rajendar. These pamphlets have been released in the name of one Thipparapu Sampath.
