While that is encouraging, what’s crucial is to see whether there has been any change in the testing numbers or not.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research has issued an advisory for Covid-19 testing, saying that laboratories are facing challenges in meeting the expected target due to the extraordinary caseload and staff contracting the infection. According to the advisory, RT PCR test must not be repeated in any individual who has tested positive once either by RAT or RT PCR.

According to the Union health ministry’s discharge policy, no testing is required for Covid recovered individuals at the time of discharge, the document states.
