TS gets child care response centre

Key feature is ‘verified, safe stay’ for children, says Sajjanar

A child care response centre by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and Cyberabad police was launched in the city on Wednesday. Childcare centres and individual caregivers are identified and verified to make it safe for the children whose parents are being treated for Covid-19.

Cyberabad police said that it was noted that young parents and nuclear families were being affected by Covid19. In most cases, either one or both the parents were hospitalised or put in home quarantine.

“With no immediate relative around, children were seen sharing the same facility or left alone at home unattended. The key feature of the initiative is ‘verified and safe stay’ for children, psychological security for parent and child, basic childcare needs, child-friendly facility and provision for caregivers apart from a round-the-clock care centre having tie-up with hospitals and doctors for health support,” said Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar.

“At short notice, we could mobilise the resources and get a few facilities operationalised,” he said.

“There is a dedicated helpline once the details are taken. Our She Teams do a background check and safely reach the child or children of Covidaffected parents to this facility,” he stated.

As many people are already using or many more are in need of this service, cops will scale up the facilities and provide assistance.

Child care centres and individual caregivers can register via the official covid.scsc.in portal. C. Anasuya, deputy commissioner of police, women and child safety, said the She Teams along with SCSC squads would make the service available for children. For queries, those needing the service could call 1215 between 9 am and 6 pm. For queries, the Helpline 08045811215 is available between 9 am and 6 pm.
