Lawyer ensures Covid victims get basic needs, justice from courts
While most people are busy keeping Coronavirus at bay, staying away from crowd and following precautionary norms, here is a man who is more worried about the Covid-19 victims than his own personal safety. Ram Bhamidipati, a lawyer by profession, spends his day to help the needy, distributing masks and food items to those who are either directly or indirectly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Apart from helping people get justice in courts, Ram Bhamidipati, is taking utmost care in ensuring that Covid victims get food, masks and other medical facilities. “We are working with residential schools and hostels where
children stay far away from their homes and are affected by the virus. One such residential school for
children with special needs is called Sannidhi, run by the Shanker Foundation,” he said.
He himself runs a foundation called the Ram Bhamidipati Foundation which was founded in 2006.
Ram Bhamidipati, who was educated in the West, says, “I was a successful software professional and worked in various countries like the USA, Australia, and the UK till 2006 before I moved back to India and pursued law and have been practicing law for a decade now.”
The foundation has been working with schools in and around Hyderabad and adjoining districts, by distributing books and uniforms using its own funds.
In the wake of the second wave of Covid-19, which has already claimed a lot of lives and livelihoods, the foundation has been assisting people with medicines and food. It also intends to team up with NGOs who have similar goals to help the needy, according to Ram Bhamidipati.
