Protest held at Malla Reddy hosp
Telangana NSUI leaders including state unit president Balmoor Venkat on Friday held a protest in front of the Malla Reddy Hospital in Suraram. Wearing PPE kits, the protesters demanded that minister Ch. Malla Reddy should be sacked from the Cabinet as he had built the hospital by encroaching on lake lands and without complying with the buffer zone rules.
The police after receiving information from hospital staff went to the spot and detained the NSUI leaders at the Dundigal police station.
NSUI state president Venkat demanded that the hospital built on encroached land should be converted into a free hospital for Covid patients. He also demanded that Covid-19 should be included in the Aarogyasri scheme.
He also said it was “very shameful” that Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar had stated that the Covid-19 situation was under control.
Dundigal inspector A. Venkatesham said 50 NSUI members, headed by Venkat, barged into the hospital premises kits and raised ‘Malla Reddy down down’. The police arrested 13 activists including Venkat.
“They barged into the place and held a protest without permission and also damaged property at the hospital while threatening the doctors working there. After getting the situation under control, we received a complaint from the management and accordingly, cases were booked for trespassing, property damage and threatening doctors,” the Dundigal police said.
