MP to provide free treatment for poor
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday launched ‘Mukhyamantri Upachar Yojana’ providing free treatment to Covid-19 patients belonging to the economically weaker section of society.
As per the scheme, the Ayushman Bharat card holders would be provided free corona treatment in both government and private hospitals.
The state government has designated some private hospitals to treat such patients free of cost. The government would bear the cost of treatment.
The state government has prepared a package for the private hospitals to treat the Covid-19 patients who are beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
The economically backward people who are not included in the Ayushman scheme can also avail the free treatment facility by producing their income certificates certified by a gazetted officer.
Around 2.42 crore people in the state would be benefitted by the free Covid treatment scheme. The state government has designated 579 hospitals as Covid hospitals in MP.
The state government has appointed nodal officers for each private hospital in the state to facilitate admission of the
Covid-19 patients belonging to poor families under the free treatment scheme.
As many as 395 ICU beds,
13,224 oxygen beds and
20,601 isolation beds are currently available in government hospitals in the state.
Similarly, total 3,760 beds have been reserved for
Covid-19 patients in the private hospitals in the state.
Twenty percent of beds in government and private hospitals have been reserved for Ayushman card holder Covid-19 patients.
Madhya Pradesh on Friday reported 11,708 fresh coronavirus positive cases taking the tally of cases to 6,49,114.
