- BALU PULIPAKA | DC

As many as 16 of Telangana’s 33 districts on Wednesday reported an increase in Covid19 cases while the other districts registered dips in the infection numbers. On the official daily chart, the state record

4,723 new cases and 31 more deaths while 5,695

Covid-19 patients have recovered from the disease.

According to the state health department, there were as many as 59,133 active Covid-19 cases in the state. Some 28,898 such patients were listed on the health department’s bed availability status website, they being treated in government and private hospitals on Wednesday. This is close to 29,235, the number of Covid-infected people either in isolation centres or at homes this day.

The districts that reported a decrease in infections were Adilabad, Jagitial, Kamareddy, KBAsifabad, Mahbubnagar, Medak, MedchalMalkajgiri, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, RajannaSiricilla,

Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy and the Warangal rural and urban districts. Though the cases in the GHMC areas did show a dip — from 756 on Tuesday to

745 on Wednesday — Hyderabad district itself was missing from the list of districts that reported fewer cases on Wednesday. This is because the state health department never released Covid data for Hyderabad but only for the GHMC areas of which Hyderabad city is a part.

The districts that reported an increase in cases on Wednesday were Bhadradri Kothagudem, Janagaon, JS Bhupalapalli, Jogulamba Gadwal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahbubabad, Mancherial, Mulugu, Nagarkurnool, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Siddipet, Wanaparthy, and Yadadri Bhongir.

The total Covid-19 deaths in the state stood at

2,834, and infection number at 5,11,711 on Wednesday while the number of people who have recovered was 4,49,744, the department said in its daily Covid bulletin.
