Two Tims doctors transferred to Rims
Two senior resident doctors working at the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) at Gachibowli in the city were, in a swift action, transferred to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Adilabad on Wednesday.
The two doctors, Dr Arundhati, a senior resident (community medicine), and Dr Wasey Wasim Kabir, a senior resident in general medicine, were shifted to RIMS “with immediate effect, on administrative grounds,” according to the transfer orders issued by Dr Vimala Thomas, Director of Tims.
The transfer of the two doctors led to a flurry of activity in the doctors’ fraternity here with some saying they were made to pay the price for raising issues with the hospital management about poor infrastructure and patient care.
The transfer of the doctors, however, did not go well with the Telangana Senior Residents Doctors Association (TSRDA) which condemned the decision and demanded immediate revocation of the transfer orders and reposting of the doctors with immediate effect. “If the order is not revoked, we will boycott duties until justice is done to both senior residents,” the association said.
Joining the TSRDA, the TS Junior Doctors Association said if the orders were not revoked, then it too would be announcing a plan of action. Both organisations said the two Tims’ doctors were transferred because they questioned lapses in administration of the hospital, and patient care.
