Revanth: Stopped while going to distribute aid
TPCC working president and Lok Sabha member A. Revanth Reddy was stopped by Begumpet police near Hyderabad Public School on Sunday while proceeding to his Malkajgiri constituency for reportedly distributing food to the needy.
The MP had set out to distribute food packets to doctors, medical staff, Covid patients, their attendants and migrants waiting at railway stations as part of his Coronavirus relief work. He had distributed such relief on Saturday.
On Sunday, however, when Revanth Reddy left home, he was stopped by police near Hyderabad Public School. Begumpet police maintained they have instructions from top not to allow anyone to go outside during lockdown timings.
The MP protested that on one hand the state government has failed in providing food to needy patients and their families at hospitals. Not just the state but centre has abandoned Coronavirus patients. On top of it, they are not allowing citizens to do their bit for the suffering people.
Revanth Reddy asked policemen to show him papers with instructions to stop him from visiting his constituency. He blamed IT minister K. T.
Rama Rao for using police to stop his visit for helping the needy and preventing Congress party from doing good for the people.
The MP said he will raise the issue with the state’s Governor and Union home ministry as well as Lok Sabha Speaker over the state government misusing its power and curtailing MPs’ rights.
